How
to check your IP address on Windows operating
system
If you need to check to see what your current IP
address is at any given time, please read the steps
below.
Windows 98 & ME: 1. Click on 'Start'
2. Click on 'Run'
3. Type in 'command'
4. Click on 'OK'
5. A black window will appear and will have a prompt
to type at
6. At the prompt, type in 'ipconfig' and press Enter.
7. You will see information much like this: Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : hq.bluemarble.net
****IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 66.244.89.132
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 66.244.89.1

The line above that shows four astrisks to the left
of it, is the line that contains the acutal IP address.

3. type in 'cmd'
4. Click on 'OK'
5. A black window will appear and will have a prompt
to type at
6. At the prompt type 'ipconfig' and press Enter.
7. You will get some information much like the following:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : hq.bluemarble.net
****IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 66.244.89.132
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 66.244.89.1

-There is another way to find the IP address in
Windows XP. Please read below for the steps: 1. Click on 'Start'
2. Click on 'Control Panel'
3. On the left side margin, click on 'switch to classic
view' (skip this step if you see 'switch to category
view')
4. Find the icon labeled 'Network Connections' and double-click
5. Right-click on the local area-connection that you wish to find the IP address
of.
6. Left-click on 'status'
7. Left-click on the tab labeled 'support'
8. You should see your IP address listed there.
