To assign a static IP address to a computer with Microsoft Windows XP:
1. Click on 'START'.

2. Click on 'Control Panel' This will open a new window.

3. In the Control Panel, double-click 'Network Connections' (you may have to first select 'Network and Internet Connections').

4. Right-click the Local Area Connection for your DSL connection and select 'Properties'.

5. In this new window, double-click on 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)'; this will open a new window.

6. Select the radio button for 'Use the following IP address'.

7. Enter in the IP and DNS numbers that you obtained from Smithville DSL.

8. Click 'OK' and you are finished!
