Dial
up setup on a Windows 2000 (Pro) operating
system
1. Click on your “START” button
2. Go to “Settings”, and then the “Control
Panel”

Double-click on “Internet Options”
4.
Click on the “Connections” tab
in the back 
5.
Remove any previous dial up connections by
clicking on them one time, then click the “Remove” button
6. Once all settings have been removed, click
the “Add” button
7. This brings up the “Network Connection
Wizard”
a. Make sure that “dial up to private
network” is selected and choose next

b. Type the phone number that you are dialing
in to (do not use dialing rules), choose next 
c. Choose to make the new connection available
to all users or just yourself, choose next 
d. Type the name that you wish to call your
connection (can be whatever you want it to
be), choose finish

Now we’re at the Settings screen,
at the bottom type in your username and password
that you setup with Smithville/Bluemarble (leave “domain” blank)
and choose OK

Make sure that it says “(default)” next
to the connection that you just made
10. Make sure that “always dial my default
connection” is selected
11. Click “Apply” and “OK”

12. Go into the Control Panel
13. Double click on Network and Dial up Connections

Right click on the connection that you just
made and choose “Create shortcut” to
put a shortcut on your desktop

After completing the setup wizard click on
the “Start” button. Go to “Programs,” “Accessories,” “Communications” then
click on “Network and Dial up Connections.”

Right-click on the connection that you just
made, and choose “Properties” 
17.
Click on the “Networking” tab
in the back, then click the “Settings” button. 
18.
Uncheck the last box, “Negotiate multi-link
for single-link connections” so that there
is only ONE checkmark, in the middle box. Click
the “OK” button, the “OK” button
again on the next screen, and then you can just
close (the “X” in top right-hand
corner) the Network and Dial-up Connections screen.
